Optik AI

Building a brand that sees what others don’t

Giving Retail a New Set of Eyes

More Project Info

In collaboration with Walmart’s innovation incubator, Store No. 8, Mutiny built the Optik AI brand from the ground up. Designed to bring cutting-edge visibility to physical retail, Optik AI used computer vision and AI to give store operators a brilliant new set of eyes—turning images into real-time insights and confident decisions.

Store No. 8 was exploring how computer vision could unlock new levels of efficiency, accuracy, and intelligence in physical retail environments. The technology was in place—but the concept needed a name, strategy, and identity that could inspire confidence at the executive level while signaling bold innovation. Mutiny developed the Optik AI brand, including naming, strategy, messaging, and design. We positioned the brand as The Practical Visionary—a thought leader grounded in near-term impact but focused on the future. The system was built to communicate clarity and sophistication, from a clean, high-tech visual identity to messaging that emphasized real-time visibility and right-now value.
While Optik AI ultimately was never commercialized, the foundational thinking contributed to broader innovation efforts, including Walmart’s Intelligent Retail Lab (IRL). The project remains a strong example of how strategic branding can translate emerging technologies into business-ready narratives.
